3D printer enclosure air filter
thingiverse
This is a 3D printer air filter enclosure created using Openscad software. It was specifically designed to accommodate the Lowes: Shop-Vac 5-Gallon Cartridge Filter, which features a solid plastic backing and an open design on one side, secured by a rubber ring with a diameter of 195mm. Additionally, it was tailored to incorporate a spare 120mm 12v PC fan that I had available. The 12v fan is situated within the 3D printed housing and generates a vacuum in a 1 1/4" shop vac hose, also obtainable at Lowes. This hose connects to the custom foam-board enclosure built around your 3D printer, using the 1 1/4" hose connectors included with the 8' Lowes shop-vac hose item. I have encountered several ABS spools that emitted strong chemical odors and released tiny nano-particles in the past. This setup, comprising the shop-vac filter device and a humidifier foam ring placed over the filter for extra coverage, should effectively eliminate these particles.
