3D Printer Enclosure (25/10/2019-R01) Share the love. Designed for an Ender 3, but it is suitable for Prusa as well. The sides are made from PETG plastic sheets for added strength, and I used M8 all thread for reinforcement. Five sides have fixing holes for extra stability. I built this enclosure to print with nylon, and I'm happy to report that I can maintain a temperature of 40 degrees Celsius inside without heating. My prints turn out beautifully with nylon. A new version is coming soon! And here are the things you'll need: Step file from the full system attached. DWG/PDF files for the lasercut sheets are also available. If you order a plain sheet without holes, expect to pay around 80-100 pounds in the UK. If you opt for laser-cut holes, it'll be around 300-400 pounds. So why not save some trees and build one yourself? It's easy! The print time for the blocks is about three hours with an Ender 3, and they don't require any support. For insulation, I used foam, but if you have a better solution, I'm open to suggestions. The PETG sheets are cheaper than acrylic and strong, and I chose 4mm thickness, but 3mm will do just fine. Don't print the spool holder – you only need a small hole for your filament to pass through. I'll be sharing my filament holder box design soon, so stay tuned! Just leave the big hole closed for now; you won't need it until later. Bill of Materials: Check the step files for quantities and double-check everything! Laser cut files: see DRW END3-0001-1 ENCLOSURE ASSY Price Breakdown: M8 all thread: 10.49 * 3 = 31.47 pounds (available on Screwfix) Plastic panel: 100-400 pounds (depending on size and material) Foam: 27 pounds (available on eBay) Fixings: M5x16 bolts/nuts – 10 pounds max Print the parts, and you're good to go! That's all you need, my friend. Happy printing!
