I upgraded the mechanical micro-switch on my auto-leveling system with an optical switch in my 3D printer. The original switch was still too light even after adding weight to the nut, so I added a spring to push the probe firmly down. To get the right tension, I cut a pen spring in half and attached it to the probe.
