3D Printer Air Filter
thingiverse
I'm designing an air filter for my 3D printer housed inside a closed enclosure. Since I haven't received the parts yet, this is still a work in progress. We all know that printing certain plastics releases bad smells and VOCs. It's crucial to print either in a well-ventilated area or have it enclosed. HEPA filters can't filter out VOCs and bad smells, so you'll need some sort of activated carbon filter. The idea is to circulate filtered air within the enclosure itself for two reasons: * Extracting air will cause cold air to be sucked in, dropping the temperature and causing certain plastics to warp. * HEPA filters with activated carbon layers have questionable effectiveness. I'd rather have the air circulating within the enclosed space. I used the Xiaomi car air purifier filter because it's pretty cheap and compact, and comes with an activated carbon filter version. I added an extra container that can be filled with activated carbon to enhance VOC removal. What you need to buy: * 4x PC Fan Flat Head Screws * 2x 7530 blower/centrifugal fan * Power Supply for your fans * Xiaomi Car Air Filter (available on Aliexpress: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000238653383.html)
