3D printed Skull mask

I'm just trying to refine someone else's creation. The raised cracks are a mystery, as the mesh mixer doesn't seem to have any tools that can carve or create recessed cracks effectively. After printing my first remix of this design, it shook loose from the print bed after 45 hours of printing. I was able to glue most of it together, but the cheek bones proved too narrow to be used as a mask, and splitting the head in two doesn't look good when glued back together. I strongly suggest avoiding this if possible. It's frustrating, but now I know what issues need to be addressed before removing the WORK-IN-PROGRESS title.
