The staggering 836 million people living in extreme poverty is a reality that some of us will never have to confront, yet something as fundamental as reliable footwear shouldn't be an issue - and it's not. 3D printed shoes offer a practical solution, boasting cost efficiency, environmental friendliness, and ease of production. The technology behind 3D printing continues to become more affordable and practical for applications like shoe manufacturing. 3D printed shoes can be recycled when worn out, repurposed into new shoes, making the process even more sustainable. The cost of producing 3D printed shoes is negligible compared to the environmental damage caused by textile factories. These shoes require no gas or water to produce, and with the potential for solar energy integration, the possibilities are endless. Something as simple as a pair of shoes can have a profound impact on a young child's life. My vision is to create the most eco-friendly shoe possible, improving the lives of people in third-world countries and making it accessible to every child or adult. My initial design was intended to be a running shoe, but my skills in computer-aided drafting were surprisingly strong. I started over, creating a new design that exceeded my expectations, yet I still felt unsatisfied with the result. Undeterred, I designed the Slip-on's with laces, which turned out to be a significant improvement. Although I've yet to perfect the settings for the flexible filament I'm using, I believe that with a material like Ninjaflex, I could achieve a softer and more pliable finish than what I've accomplished so far.
