Create a low-cost summer project with my son, using Fusion 360 to design a car. Although the design is far from perfect, I learned a lot by testing various features in Fusion 360 for the first time. The car uses an affordable A2212 1000K brushless motor and ESC set from China, reaching speeds of around 30km/h on 2S LiIon batteries. Any 2chn remote control will work, while a 9g servo steers the vehicle. The car's parts are mostly 3D printed in grey ABS, with some components made from FR4 PCB material. Axles are crafted from 6mm round aluminium rods, and all bolts are M3x10mm phillips cheese-head screws. King pins for the front steering can be made from various materials like brass tube. The car uses two 626ZZ bearings and one 624ZZ bearing, with washers recommended for securing wheels and preventing wear. Tires can be printed or casted from silicone in 3D-printed molds. Both gears are press-fit mounted, and rear wheels simply press onto axles. STL files for this project are available on Thingiverse.
