3D Printed Print In Place Plate Holder
thingiverse
I accidentally broke one of my wife's plate holders when I was careless with it. To make up for the mistake, I quickly designed a new 3D Printed "Print In Place" Plate Holder using PLA on both an Ultimaker 2+ Extended and an Ultimaker 3 Extended. As the design is a "print in place," the plate holder works perfectly either with minor cleanup after printing or no cleanup at all if you don't use a brim, and it doesn't require any assembly. I've included the file "Plate Holder, Print In Place.stl" that can be used to print this model directly. However, if your slicer won't accept this file, you can merge the two parts of the model using the files "Left.stl" and "Right.stl" before printing. My final prints were done at .15mm layer height with 20% infill and no brim. If your printer has trouble with warping, though, a brim may be needed which will require some cleanup before use. For smaller plates, you can use a small dot of cyanoacrylate glue to hold the hinge in place. I probably left out a file or two, so if you have any questions about this project, please don't hesitate to ask as I make plenty of mistakes.
