3D printed pins to secure one end of the super-cool Hyperbolic Planetary Gear design
thingiverse
Because I didn't have half a dozen number ten hex screws available, and a purer approach would be to have all printed parts, I made these pins that mostly fit flush with the curved ends, and look much nicer. Printed in with three layers seems to have sufficient strength. The angles help the pins to hold the top piece together pretty well. The STL includes a small support, since my version of MakerWare would print supports for such a small area, and two out of three attempted prints failed without the 2-millimeter support column that's easily snapped off.
