I've been using this setup for months now, and it's performed flawlessly. To ensure the USB C port can withstand the high temperatures of a parked car in direct sunlight, I applied JB weld to secure it firmly in place. In addition, I incorporated a strip of industrial velcro with fuzzy backing for easy load and unload operations, providing excellent tolerance correction. The Google Pixel 1 lacks USB audio out capabilities, so I also integrated a Bluetooth module to enable headphones-free listening.
