The project involves developing a 3D scanner using parts printed on a MakerBot. The printed components, combined with a Logitech camera, laser, and mirror on a galvanometer, create a scanning system. This setup is explained further in the provided link (http://abarry.org/stereo). Currently, the software is driven by a microchip PIC to control the mirror movements and obtain point clouds. MeshLab is used for meshing these points into 3D models. Although there's still progress to be made on the software side, the project has functional hardware for data acquisition. A recent update includes a screenshot of a scanned artichoke. To assemble the scanner, print the provided files, install a line laser, USB camera, and a mirror fixed on a galvanometer. Offset the camera from the laser by around 7-10 inches using a custom bracket. For now, use the software linked in the description, with further development underway.
