3D Printed N95 Respirator
thingiverse
The respirator consists of a TPU mask, a PLA filter housing, a 3.75" piece of weather stripping, and elastic bands with adjusters. An optional nose clamp is included that can be glued on if difficulty is encountered getting a seal. The respirator fits 5P71 filters (P95 rating) and 5N11 filters (N95 rating). The filter housing insert is attached to the face mask using superglue. M4 heat-set inserts or M4 nuts are used for assembly, ensuring that the correct "Filter Housing Insert" is printed, whether using heat-set inserts or nuts. The elastic adjusters ("tribars," or "tri-glides") can be purchased online or found on Thingiverse. The purpose of this design is to provide a reusable N95 grade respirator for medical professionals during the COVID-19 / Coronavirus crisis. This design has been submitted to NIH for clinical approval, as shown at https://3dprint.nih.gov/discover/3dpx-013645. Three-millimeter files are available for Prusa Mk3 / Mk3s users and were saved from PrusaSlicer. It takes approximately five hours to print all of the parts. This design is based on work done by Thingiverse user TyCreek, which has since been removed.
