3D Printed Multi-material Valve

3D Printed Multi-material Valve

grabcad

An easily 3D-printable, proportionate valve for microfluidics is presented here, utilizing a combination of flexible and rigid materials. The device's structural integrity is maintained while ensuring controlled flow regulation. Increasing the membrane (flexible material) thickness adjusts the flow rate at a given control pressure. Recommended 3D printing methods include PolyJet, multi-material, or binder jetting for single print creation. Dimensions are 28 x 5 x 5.3 mm with specific model details of 800 µm fluid channel, 800 µm control channel, and 300 µm membrane. Material recommendations include Stratasys TangoPlus (FLX930, flexible) and VeroWhitePlus (RGD835, stiff). This innovative design is inspired by Keating, Oxman, et al., "3D Printed Multimaterial Microfluidic Valve," published in PLOS ONE. The downloadable zip folder contains files for import with millimeter dimensions in STL, IGES, and STEP formats.
