3D Printed Hexacopter
thingiverse
This hexacopter is an upgraded version of the quadcopter, which itself was based on MikeyB's design. Changes include additional arms for a total of six, longer arm lengths, improved landing gear, and overall redesigns for enhanced usability. It was printed using an UltiMax DIY 3D printer due to its larger print bed required by the hexacopter's arms. The V2 files were added for stronger arms and better camera mounting, as the original arms could fail at motor mountings. A video of the hexacopter in action can be seen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c8x9KdXuLNM. Follow the development on the blog at http://wtn-projects.blogspot.com/. The hexacopter's components include a DX6i 6-Channel Full Range, six Afro ESC 30Amp Multi-rotor Motor Speed Controllers with SimonK firmware, an Octocopter Power Distribution Board, a KK2.0 Multi-rotor LCD Flight Control Board, six Turnigy D2836/9 950KV Brushless Outrunner Motors, a Turnigy nano-tech 5000mah 3S 25~50C Lipo Pack, a Turnigy Accucel-6 50W 6A Balancer/Charger with accessories, a 60w Power Supply, and a Turnigy TGY-50090M Metal Gear 9g Analog Servo. For FPV components, the hexacopter uses a ReadMadeRC Custom 1.3 FPV Starter Package with 1258/1280MHz US Version components including a 1.3Ghz 400mW Video Transmitter, a "Tan" Custom Read Made RC Version Receiver with SAW Upgrade, an 8dBi Patch Antenna, and two 450mAh 3s batteries. It is also equipped with HeadPlay 800 x 600 FPV goggles Combo and a 690TVL Ultra WDR Pixim SEAWOLF HD CCTV Mini Camera 3.6mm Lens OSD Menu.
