THE 3D PRINT ZONE - 3D PRINTED ELECTRIC GUITAR PROJECT Website: https://the3dprintzone.com/ YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCghGnerjapvhQsnTicj7Fkw Hello 3D printers! Here's a fantastic project (challenge) for you to tackle! After many hours of CAD design, numerous failed prints, trial and error followed by more trial and error, and a total of 70 hours of total print time, I'm extremely pleased with my first 3D printed guitar! With limited resources, I set out to create a functioning and aesthetically pleasing electric guitar with a Les Paul style. This project helped me enhance my CAD skills and learn how to integrate a 3D printed design with hardware and electronics to create a functional 3D printed musical instrument. The journey I went on while creating this guitar was fantastic, and I was thrilled to be able to bring together two of my passions, 3D printing and music! 3D PRINTER AND FILAMENT Filament: https://amzn.to/2PbOAbi (high quality and consistent) 3D Printer: https://amzn.to/2IpaXp4 (to print guitar body) Watch a video of it playing here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YxNYwQ_IKMw Print Volume Requirements 200 x 200 x 175 mm (can be printed on relatively small print beds!!!) The guitar consists of 6 STL files to build the assembly. The 6 pieces have dovetail features that allow you to put them together like a puzzle piece. I recommend using Loctite or some other type of adhesive to create an even tighter bond between the 6 pieces at the joints. The guitar body was designed specifically around this hardware below: GUITAR PROJECT HARDWARE Guitar Neck: https://amzn.to/38cMuAf Bridge and Tailpiece: https://amzn.to/2KicVJB Tuning Pegs: https://amzn.to/2Khp9FD Cover Plates: https://amzn.to/2MlmyrD Output Jack: https://amzn.to/2K6Xfgf Wiring Kit: https://amzn.to/2MYiRt8 Knobs: https://amzn.to/2K5pkEG Strings: https://amzn.to/2tr60r4 Loctite Instant: https://amzn.to/2KhxNRk Pickups: https://amzn.to/2Kkq886 (you can use higher quality pickups for a higher quality sound) FASTENERS Video Tutorial Here ---> https://youtu.be/CMGZ3E4zmdc M3 x 10 mm Screws: https://amzn.to/2IxGZPN Threaded Heat Set Inserts: https://amzn.to/2KpdNMp As for layer thickness, 0.2mm is what I printed at, and that worked well. I recommend printing in a strong material (PLA is okay, but ABS would be better for more strength). The more infill you use, the stronger and less flex the body of the guitar will have over time. Feel free to modify the design to add stiffening features to prevent any sort of bending in the plastic once the strings are tensioned! GUITAR GEAR Amp: https://amzn.to/2lzriyr Effects Pedal: https://amzn.to/2KrzHyA Loop Pedal: https://amzn.to/2txe8GF Feel free to modify the design to make it even better, but please respect the Creative Commons on Thingiverse! I would love to see how yours turns out once its complete, so please post your photos! I hope you enjoy, and please feel free to contact me if you have any questions! HAPPY PRINTING EVERYONE! ROCK ON!
