3D printed Filament Extruder based on LyMan Design
thingiverse
A portable filament extruder, inspired by RepRap 3D printer project, features printed parts for ease of construction, an extended Lyman design for improved functionality, and several enhancements. These improvements include replacement of wooden components, a combined cooling fan and filament guide in an adjustable unit foldable to reduce size, a strengthened hopper, use of 5/16 threaded rods for spacing and strength, a printed plastic engine mount that can be adjusted for various 12V, 2 RPM engines, and a power and electronics box integrated into the design with a model supporting multiple units with minimal cradle adjustment. The extruder relies on specific parts including a NatureMill electric 12V engine spinning at 2 RPM, milled and metal components, and electrical parts. Additional details can be found on Thingiverse, while SCAD code is available upon request.
