3D Printed "Cloisonne" - Proserpine's Hands

And now for something completely different... Faced with a budget constraint that left me without the means to upgrade my printer to multi-material capabilities and without access to various colored filaments, I devised a more rudimentary approach to create a 3D printed version of a lapel pin design I had previously created. Essentially, I printed it out, sanded it down, applied paint into the wells, allowed it to dry, and then sanded again. The walls of this pin are .8mm thick, so I strongly advise printing with a .4mm nozzle at this scale. Regarding the source artwork: Dante Gabriel Rossetti was an artist closely tied to the Pre-Raphaelite movement, a group of 19th century English painters who sought to recreate a more authentic artistic tradition (which they believed had declined since Mannerism). Proserpine (Persephone) is a portrait of Jane Morris depicted as the figure from Greek mythology. Interestingly, this version hangs in the Tate Britain Gallery in London, where I sketched it many years ago, and served as the basis for my 3D printed replica here.
