3D-Printed Birdhouse, A Sign (version 3)

3D-Printed Birdhouse, A Sign (version 3)

thingiverse

The third iteration of our birdhouse entry to the 2013 Birdhouse Display and Benefit Auction at The Arboretum in Lexington, KY, is a large, fully 3D-printed structure. Inspired by my daughter, it resembles a road sign with pictographs for birds and houses. This version features improvements such as customizer compatibility, a bird escape ladder, redrawn floor plate, and an optional QR code for its Instructables guide on the back. Designed using SCAD files, it is 100% printable in PLA with low fill factors for insulation. Painting instead of multiple color printing offers better weather protection; alternatives include yellow PLA with black front design or clear-coating. The customizer may not render the 'Assembled' view correctly. See: http://www.instructables.com/id/3D-Printed-Birdhouse-A-Sign/ for instructions and details.
