3D Printable Socket Rods
thingiverse
After careful deliberation, I decided with my newly acquired 3D Printers that I could significantly outdo the socket rods available at hardware stores on both price and functionality. The primary benefit of this system lies in its recyclability, breaking a socket holder? Simply print ten more replacements. If a rod breaks, print three extra ones to have as spares. Since each part requires minimal filament mass, having large quantities becomes an advantage. Just stash some in your tool box and you're good to go. During my extensive testing period, I discovered several valuable insights - using two different filament colors can be highly beneficial. Designate one color for Metric sockets and the other for Imperial ones. This way, a quick glance at your collection will allow you to grab the right general range, as each rod should be organized in order of size.
