3D Printable Replacement Parts for Plastruder MK5/MK6 Support
thingiverse
The acrylic components of my printer have developed slight cracks over time. However, after upgrading to an MK6 Stepper, these cracks seem to be growing. One extruder plate even broke recently. Fortunately, the MK6 upgrade kit included a spare part. To address this issue, I've created printable .STL replacement files for the "Rainbow bridge" that supports the MK5/6 extruder. Although a more printer-friendly support design could be made, the convenience of drop-in replacement parts should not be overlooked. The largest part comes in two halves that lock together like jigsaw pieces; I recommend gluing or acetoning them together for stability. Additionally, narrow slots beneath the nut holes are designed to accommodate M3 washers to prevent the nut from being pulled into the plastic when over-tightened. To replace your Rainbow bridge entirely, you'll need: 2x replacement_rainbow_bridge_V1.1_A.stl 2x replacement_rainbow_bridge_V1.1_B.stl 2x replacement_rainbow_bridge_V1.1_cross_brace.stl 1x replacement_rainbow_bridge_V1.1_left_foot 1x replacement_rainbow_bridge_V1.1_right_foot 1x replacement_rainbow_bridge_V1.1_top After printing the desired parts, clean them up, glue together if necessary, insert washers (if required), disassemble the extruder support, replace the damaged part with the printed one, and enjoy some extra time!
