3D-Printable Fabric With Rectangular Footprint
thingiverse
Here's another take on fabrics. It packs a bit more punch since each segment consists of a square, making the object quite dense and boasting an armor-like structure. I've included three examples with 13, 17, and 68 segments. You can create your own shape of fabric by combining individual pieces. To get an idea of how to arrange them next to each other, just take a look at the examples. The numbered parts (e.g. "[...]._1"; "[...]._2") are identical, but I've mirrored or rotated them to give you some variety. Essentially, all you need is the 'center' piece; the others are simply there to help you create straight edges. This object doesn't require flexible filament. No supports are needed, and it's best not to print too fast. A leveled bed is also essential – if individual segments become loose during printing, they can cause the entire print to fail. Retraction should be turned off, and I highly recommend using a part cooling fan to reduce stringing. This was an older project of mine that I published on myminifactory about a year ago. Happy printing, everyone!
