3D Printable Bramah Lock
grabcad
This is a 3d printable Bramah lock. Modelled from reference images. Adjustments have been made for 3d printing e.g. thicker sliders, tolerances etc. This model is not to scale. Assembly- check that the notches can fit into the groove in the core (if not use small wire cutters to widen groove)- line up the sliders in shortest to longest (the shortest being Slider 1 and longest Slider 5)- turn the core upside down so that the sliders can be inserted into it. And the stopping pin is facing towards you (at the 6 o’clock position)- starting with slider 2 (second shortest) insert the slider into the 2 o’clock position. (use a small screw driver to poke it into its hole)- than repeat clock wise with slider 3 going into the slot at 5 o’clock etc. (Do not insert slider 1)- using a small screw driver make sure the sliders are in position. Than drop the pin top and ring slider into the hole (if needed use the screw driver to manipulate the sliders)- I used an old printing bed spring cut in half and meshed together. I than twisted the top half of the spring so it was level with the end of the core. (drop the spring in now)- than carefully place the drop pin in so that it interfaces with the pin top. And press it into the core (it might help to hold the pin into the core, flip it over and press the core into the table), (if the pin is loose than keep the core upside down)- than snap the notches into the core groove (it might take some wiggling)- than place the case body into the core assembly. Slowly rotate the case body until the notches slot into the case body. (pay attention to where the stopping pin is), (this can also be done upside down)- than thread the grip ring into the case body until tight- insert slider 1 into the last slot in the core body- try pressing into the pin top to check it can move- the key might be stiff at first. Rock it back and forth until it moves smoothly.
