3D Pen Holder

3D Pen Holder

I purchased a 3D Pen to use as a "glue gun" to fix tabs, ears and small imperfections on long prints from my 3D printer because I needed it badly myself. Since I couldn't find one that included everything in one package at an affordable price on Amazon, I bought the cheapest one available, and it didn't come with a pen holder or base, so I decided to create something custom. Using 123d Design software, I designed a pen holder that makes 8 small points of contact while allowing adequate airflow around the nozzle. This design ensures minimal heat transfer from the pen to the holder, keeping both components at a safe temperature. The top fingers on the holder are also flexible enough to allow for easy removal if you push the pen in gently, or it will grip the pen tightly if you press down harder. I have noticed that my 3D pen tends to ooze a lot of material when hot, so I strongly recommend placing a piece of paper below the base to prevent any mess. Print Settings: Printer: XYZ da Vinci Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: .3 Infill: 15% Notes: I used ABS, and PLA would also work well. Make sure there is adequate airflow around the nozzle to prevent excessive heat from being transferred to the holder.
