Updated 2/14/2014 to produce much smoother letters and a more refined appearance. Updated 2/3/2018 to correct an error that had been causing problems. This project makes it easy for you to create a 3D name or word using the BlocksCAD software. You can customize your own name in just a few clicks. To make your own name, follow these steps: - Click on this link: https://www.blockscad3d.com/community/projects/81081 - Click the "Create My Own" button - In the box that says 'set your name', replace DONNA with the name you want to use - Click the "render" button to display the 3D name in a visual representation You can also adjust various settings to customize your 3D text: - To turn the part, click and hold the left mouse button in the render window and move the mouse - Change the font using the drop down arrow next to the word "font" - There are 7 fonts to choose from, including Chewy, Roboto and Liberation Serif, which I found to be particularly appealing - If the bar is too short or too long, adjust the value "bar_length" to get it just right - Changing the "letter height" (dimension in the Y direction) will also change the length of the name - Use "letter thickness" to control the letter thickness in the Z direction When you're satisfied with your design, click the "Generate STL" button to create a .stl file for a 3D printer. This will send the .stl file to your "download" folder. You can also save your project under the "Projects" menu by clicking "Save Blocks to your computer". This way, you can reload the program later and make changes as needed. I've included the .stl file for "DONNA", along with the SCAD and .xml BlocksCAD files. You're welcome to use them as a starting point for your own creations. This project was inspired by "Text" by Andra at https://www.blockscad3d.com/community/projects/69354.
