3D Modular Snap Puzzle Mazes

These are 3D puzzle toys featuring a small ball bearing that navigates through a 3D labyrinth. The concept is centered around creating modular, customizable, mini 3D mazes that can be snapped together to form larger, more challenging 3D mazes. Each individual maze measures approximately 2" square and features an entrance/exit on each side for seamless connection with other mazes. A standard puzzle-piece type snap shape allows the mazes to connect nicely. A standard 4.5mm BB gun pellet is used as the ball bearing, ensuring a smooth navigation experience through the 3D labyrinth. These puzzle toys are designed to be fun and customizable, allowing users to create their own unique mazes. To facilitate this process, I created a grid-like template that can be used to quickly make custom mazes. Using this template, it took me approximately ten minutes to cut away spaces for each sample maze. Future improvements will focus on enhancing the snap mechanism and adjusting the template size for optimal performance. Additionally, I plan to develop templates featuring circles or popular icons to offer more design options. Two sample mazes have been uploaded, which were created quickly using the provided template. For those interested in making their own mazes, I recommend utilizing Tinkercad to import the template and create custom spaces for the ball bearing. Alternatively, users can click on the provided Tinkercad link below to access a pre-designed file with properly sized hole cutaways. To ensure successful prints, make sure to maintain good bed adhesion or use a raft to prevent the maze from peeling off during printing. Additionally, if the maze warps at all, it may become challenging to connect it with other mazes. I used PLA for printing these mazes, which provides a strong and durable material for optimal performance.
