3D model of a young accreting star
sketchfab
The three-dimensional model portrays a young star in the process of accretion. At its core, the protostar is surrounded by an accretion disk, depicted in vibrant blue hues. Estimated to be less than ten million years old, this young celestial body closely resembles T Tauri, a notable young star situated within the Taurus star-forming region. Furthermore, the model vividly illustrates the emergence of a coronal loop in close proximity to the accretion disk surrounding the protostar. This phenomenon was simulated using the PLUTO code, a sophisticated tool for modeling complex astrophysical processes. The findings presented in this model draw upon the research conducted by Orlando et al., as published in the esteemed journal MNRAS (Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society), volume 415, page 3380, in the year 2011. The image of the Milky Way galaxy featured in this model is courtesy of ESO/S. Brunier, a renowned astrophotographer.
