3D Model Challenge - Icon Font Magnet (with tutorial)
myminifactory
I invite everyone to create their own models, as they are incredibly easy to make. My goal is to show that creating your own model is within reach of anyone who wants to try. If you haven't made one yet, I challenge you to follow along and model something simple. You don't need a 3D printer; just send me the file of your magnet icon and I will print it for you. I want to demonstrate how low the barrier to entry really is. To get started, make a few videos about how to get Fusion 360 and make a calibration cube. Watch my other videos on making these magnets with any icon you choose. Here's what you need to do: first, download Fusion 360, which is free and incredibly powerful. Second, download the squircle. Third, find some icons; I used icomoon.io, which has plenty of options. There are many more icons at fontawesome, but be prepared for a slightly more complicated process with downloading and extracting files. These are the magnets I use to make mine: http://amzn.to/2Fann3i (affiliate link).
