The Il-76 (identified by NATO as Candid - a name that means English sincere, direct) is a Soviet and Russian heavy military transport aircraft designed at the Ilyushin Design Bureau under the project led by Academician G.V. Novozhilov; it was the first military transport aircraft in the history of the USSR to utilize turbojet engines.
