3D House Printer - Concrete Castle

3D House Printer - Concrete Castle

It's been two years since I started brainstorming the concept of a 3D printer that could build houses. In my mind, this new technology needed to be lightweight, portable, and stable. First, I built a small 3D printer using plastic as its primary material, then I began experimenting with enlarging it and testing various cement mixes. Mixing cement was an incredibly tough challenge - I had to fine-tune the printer on a programming level, and use precise quantities of cement mix. While testing the printer, I encountered obstacles (such as the nightmare of the extruder clogging) and discovered that the printer could print much more than 50cm per day, far beyond what I initially thought. I was able to calibrate the machine so that it prints almost perfect layers now, and I experimented with different heights and widths of cement layers. My current standard is 10 millimeters in height by 30 millimeters in width, but countless other options are available with just a click of a button. This two-year journey has led me to build the world's first 3D printed concrete castle. And it's finally standing tall!
