3d Head Scan

thingiverse

I designed this 3D model from scratch. However, I'm actually using a version of Lee Perry-Smith's creation from Infinite-Realities. If you want to see his work firsthand, visit their website at www.ir-ltd.net/. As for what I did here, it was mainly tweaking the head scan to make it 3D printable-friendly. This included filling in the mouth cavity and closing off any holes on the bottom, a mesh subdivision that removed error-causing intersecting polygons. A minor note - two problematic spots might remain due to the complex geometry of the design, but this won't drastically impact its appearance. Interestingly, when I added eyes to the 3D model, they ended up having small voids behind their eyelids. To add some whimsy to it, I gently propped them open slightly to achieve a dreamlike effect in prints made from these files. If you're considering 3D printing this object without any extra assistance - don't say I didn't warn you - since you'll probably need to apply some sort of support structure or just do without one and print with all the limitations that implies. What was kind of cool is when I modified a different head design to make it hollow inside, so then I inserted an antique penny made back in 1906. When done, you seal the cavity back up with epoxy resin once it hardens in place, essentially giving someone some extra cash inside their printed 3D model's brain who didn't do all that heavy work themselves just like the penny. What Lee Perry-Smith came up with over at Infinite-Realities, that I had here - that is still subject to his rules for sharing or copying which I did list off before so now it shouldn’t come as any big shock - don't think this model would ever make any of those businesses some cash just by giving people the source material because this kind of creation must never profit anybody beyond personal, not at least if someone who downloaded has the option to pass the information or use this file around where others can also do it. Thanks a million again Lee over at www.ir-ltd.net/
