When it became necessary to employ a cocktail umbrella to protect the amber nectar from the menace presented by the spotted dove roosting above it was time for action!

Mouse in hand and Akubra firmly on my head, I set about devising a contraption that would be sure to convince the fluttering rogues to move to a more suitable perch. A long strip on which to mount a row of spikey teeth. A couple of screw holes. Simple. OpenSCAD should be more than adequate. Plus I could try using a loop to create the serrations. No need for a trip to the local hardware store.

Several hours of printing later, the strips were ready. Admittedly the oche had accumulated another layer of guano. Good for the roses I imagine but these birds had to go! Installation was a straight-forward business and presently I was filling the kettle in the kitchen, anticipating a well earned cup of tea while admiring my handiwork. That was until I noticed my feathered nemesis and partner settling in to their newly renovated accommodation.

Perhaps they just needed some time alone to consider alternative lodgings? No such luck. Within a week the colony had expanded! Two choices I guess, embrace the challenges of living with an expanded flock of flying pestilence, or up the ante a little. Perhaps dove deposits have some application in the cosmetics industry and I could make my fortune? Or perhaps its time to get a little more medieval?
