3D contour gauge
thingiverse
A versatile contour gauge for precision copying or fun play. To assemble, print one "block" and three "pin-print" units, then combine them. I produce this design with a 0.3mm nozzle. If you're using a larger nozzle, ensure your slicer retains all the small parts. 2019-01-12 My printer consistently produces a thick first layer, making cleanup in 225 holes a hassle. To address this issue, I've added chamfering to the bottom of the gauge. To minimize friction between each pin and its corresponding hole, it's essential to achieve low friction levels. Even one Newton of friction requires 22 kilograms of force to push all the pins. In response, I've increased clearance on the spring-fingers. If your parts are printed in PLA, you may experience stick-slip effects; however, gently rubbing each pin against a bar of soap (dry) resolves this issue and enables smooth movement. This is an untested prototype. A revised version is currently being printed. Users who have downloaded the files prior to January 12th should retrieve the updated version.
