3D Checkerboard Pattern
grabcad
This calibration device consists of a three-dimensional checkerboard layout, showcasing a matrix of squares that span 20 millimeters in width and length on each side while projecting a height of ten millimeters. Extruding both the x and y axes, a precise 5 by six grid system emerges from the assembly's core structure. Specifically designed for aligning colour depth sensors such as RGB cameras with time-of-flight capabilities (including the advanced Kinect V2 model), this intricate design ensures flawless calibration through optimal precision. In order to bring the checkerboard pattern to life and effectively convey its precise details, a printing process involving a predominantly white material should be adopted - particularly accentuating the contrasting 3D-printed cells on the extruded grid.
