I needed an attractive and safe way to carry my game set so I decided to utilize an existing commercial case and modify it to meet my requirements. You can find the case available from TableWar Designs. The storage panels are designed to hold 9 tiles from the JAWong set: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:26979, Variations http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1132283 and other tiles compatible with JAWong's tile design. Although it is possible for these boards to be used for tiles without the magnetic bases I have not tested them. The magnetic bases I used were Isolt's 18, 3mm spherical ball magnet design: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1108968. Magnets are embedded into the board to interact with at least four sides of each tile's magnetic base. This allows the tiles to remain secure during transport and prevents them from jostling loose. The magnets are aligned at the center line of each tile's side and the configuration is only compatible with Isolt's 18 magnet base design. The magnets embedded into the boards are 1/8" diameter rare earth and are also available from the TableWar Design site. Each board is designed for twenty-five of these magnets. Due to the size of the panels, I found it necessary to divide the model into three sections to make them more printable; however, this weakened the longitudinal strength of the panel once it was assembled. To compensate for this, each panel piece junction is designed with two 1cm deep holes to insert a nominal 2cm long 2mm diameter steel rod before adhering the panels together. The rods themselves were readily available from Amazon and I cut them into the appropriate lengths. Print Settings Printer Brand: LulzBot Printer: TAZ 5 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: .2 Infill: 20 Notes: I used a 5/64" drill bit to pilot the holes for the steel rods before inserting them. Similarly, I used a 1/8" drill bit to pilot the holes for the magnets before pushing them into place. Finally, I used an ABS acetone mixture to glue all of the sections together.
