3D 2" squares Split Chessboard
thingiverse
This reconfigurable chessboard in 3D is a new challenge for experienced chess players. Try out the Gauntlet, King of the Hill, or Gladiator settings to see the game from a different angle. The board consists of four corners that can be rearranged into various patterns. Designed with 2-inch squares that closely match regulation size, standard pieces will work seamlessly. Print a single layer and one part to test how your chess pieces fit before printing the entire board. Each corner has seven layers, requiring four corners in total. Note that not all corners are identical; two types exist, shown as color 1 and color 2 in separate images. Refer to the PDF file for instructions on assembling a wooden version and determining the number of each piece needed. The setup is consistent throughout. In the provided pictures, alternating light and dark colors illustrate direction, but they represent the same hue in reality. Stack the pieces from bottom to top, gluing them together with the smaller piece at the base. Apply glue to the underside of the smaller piece for a secure bond. The symmetrical design allows the pieces to be stacked for convenient storage. Chamfers were added to prevent overhang from interfering with adjacent squares, as the printer sometimes deposits excess material on the bottom layer. With these settings, you're ready to enjoy your new reconfigurable chessboard in 3D! Printer Settings: Printer: Flashforge dual Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: .2 Infill: 10%
