The Malta Station is located on the left bank of the White River (a tributary of the Angara, which flows into the Yenisei), 100 kilometers northwest of Irkutsk and Lake Baikal. It was opened in 1927. Numerous archaeological excavations have been conducted here, led consecutively by S.N. Zamiatnin, G.P. Sosnovsky, and especially Mikhail Mikhailovich Gerassimov (1907-1970), who worked here for over thirty years and made the greatest contribution to the study of the Paleolithic Malta Station. Material: Mammoth tusk. Dimensions: height - 10.8 cm; width - 1.5 cm; thickness - 0.8 cm. Origin, dating: Malta Station. Pribytkaye. Irkutsk Oblast. Excavations by Gerassimov M.M., 1928.
