360 Panoramic Motorised Programmable Tripod Head for DSLR
thingiverse
An update for the Manfrotto 3-way head conversion allows simpler spherical panorama taking. Made two so far but still a work in progress; a vertical field of view of approximately 170 degrees is achieved using a Samyang 8mm lens. The project's page can be found at http://dslr360.ilyatitov.com/. Example panoramas are available at http://ilyatitov.com/360/, while videos demonstrating the functionality can be viewed at http://youtu.be/m-kqBCw5f4w, http://youtu.be/QM9lXYVwHF0, and http://youtu.be/dYxgKii06uE. Key components include a NEMA 17 motor, Arduino Nano, H-bridge, connectors, two printed gears, one printed quick-release lens clamp, and one printed motor support, all of which can be easily removed for the head to revert to its original state. Further details will be provided upon request. This project builds on the iPhone panoramic head project (3D printing was not available at that time) found at http://iphone360.ilyatitov.com/. Printing instructions are available, with layer height not being crucial; gears might need slight filing for a proper fit, and the lens holder is rotated to minimize support material waste.
