360 degree Wind Turbine
thingiverse
This is my 360 degree wind turbine (which is still a work-in-progress) taken from the original design by me2space, you can find his design here https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1767153. Credit goes to me2space for the turbine blades, hub and base, everything else I have re-designed. The original design stands at a height of about 14 inches; however, this one stands at a height of around 26 inches (2ft+), and has a fully functional 360 degree blade/motor turret. I liked the original design so much that I decided to go one little step further by increasing the general size of the WT to 170%, but still trying to keep it simple, and easy as possible to print. Most of the larger parts of the model were printed in 0.3 for speed, the smaller parts were printed in 0.15 for quality and fitting. I do intend to print all parts in 0.15 for the final build. 360 DEGREE TURRETT As for the 360 degree turret, I tried to keep it as simple as possible, and use what I had laying around the house for the electrical connection. So, I managed to find an old router and power cable, so I de-soldered the DC power socket from the board of the router, and voila, I have a simple 360 degree capable connection. If anyone has a new way of doing this, please let me know. I have included a few pics to show kind of how it's put together. As for the top of the tower, the Cable Pin is pushed inside the Pivot bottom first, then those two are pushed into the top of the tower. Be careful; it is a really tight fit (I had to bash it in with something lol). Make sure when you fix the 360 turret bottom to the top of the tower, you have the tower separated. TURBINE TOWER The tower comes in three sections. I tried to print the tower in two sections but my printer only goes 180mm high, so I had to print it horizontally & diagonally across the bed, but ended up being a horrible print, so that's why I split it into three and printed it vertically. The DC cable slides through the Cable pin and down through the tower. You may want to add a little glue/hot melt glue into the Pin and Cable to stop the wire twisting with the rotation of the motor mount. MOTOR MOUNT The motor mount was increased in size, either to hold a bigger motor, or small motor with a gearing system to increase RPM of the small DC motor. I am working on a design for some kind of modular bay/cage to hold separate items. I will continue to update the model and post. If anyone does like this model and has any ideas on how to improve it, please feel free to comment. Thanks for now, G
