360 Compact i3v E3d v6 50mm blower cooling fan mount
thingiverse
So, after being really unhappy with the i3v blower fan mounts available, I made my own design. It's far from perfect, but I'll improve it if you want me to - for now, though, it works for me, so I'm sharing it anyway. It's about as compact as a blower can get and fits snugly around the stock hot end cooling fan on the front of the carriage, leaving plenty of space on the side of the printer and bed clips, unlike wider designs. After printing my first one in PLA, everything went smoothly, even with high-temperature prints. The main thing keeping it from overheating seems to be running the fan at low speed - which actually works pretty well for cooling purposes. Now I'm planning on trying a PET version. I purchased this fan through Amazon here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00E4AAJ9O?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s01 It's held onto the carriage using standard Wade Extruder fan mounting holes, which makes everything easy. Just remember to secure those attachment points tightly - this helps keep the whole shroud level and stable. Thanks a lot for checking it out. Print Settings Rafts: You can pretty much ignore this setting if you want Supports: The same as with rafts - whatever works best for you. Infill: Try to fill up most of your design, 75%+ seems like the sweet spot Notes: Some printing might be a bit tricky. To avoid any problems I went with full supports, even though it isn't strictly necessary. .3mm layer thickness, 0.4 nozzle size.
