This is a classic 3-4-5 right triangle, and you can build one using any unit of measure as long as the ratio remains 3-4-5. For example, if you're working with inches, a straight edge and dividers will help you create a perfect right angle. As a Patternmaker with a small hobby foundry at home, I use various measuring systems for my castings, including metric, inch decimal, and inch fractional. In fact, much layout work can be done without a ruler, such as locating stiffeners on a flange or dividing a known length into equally spaced sections. This triangle is just the foundation, and thinking in units of measure makes working with CAD programs much easier for me. I'm still developing a lesson plan, and I've added two .stl files to show how each model looks when 3D printed. Print settings can be standard, as there's no stress involved, and PLA at a .2 layer height would work well.
