340 on the Park is a striking residential tower situated in the heart of Chicago's Lakeshore East development. Completed in 2007, this architectural marvel briefly held the title of Chicago's tallest all-residential building, surpassing 55 East Erie by a narrow margin. Currently, it stands proudly as the second-tallest all-residential building in Chicago, with an impressive height of 672 feet (205 meters) and 62 floors. The renowned architectural firm Solomon Cordwell Buenz designed this tower, while Magellan Development brought its vision to life. Magnusson Klemencic Associates, a top-notch structural engineering firm, utilized innovative Post-Tensioning techniques to maximize floor-to-ceiling heights. James McHugh Construction Co played a crucial role in installing post tensioning tendons supplied by Amsysco Inc. Strategically located within the Lakeshore East complex, 340 on the Park offers unobstructed views of Millennium Park, Grant Park, The Park at Lakeshore East, and Lake Michigan from its vantage point next to Randolph Street. This tower's thoughtful design ensures that nearby buildings retain some vistas of the park. A pioneer in green architecture, 340 on the Park achieved Silver LEED certification for its eco-friendly design, boasting a large winter garden for residents to enjoy. Furthermore, this residential tower provides a direct connection to the Chicago pedway system, enhancing accessibility and convenience. To maintain harmony with its surroundings, the north side of the building is contoured in such a way that views from The Buckingham adjacent to it remain unobstructed.
