.338 Lapua Magnum
thingiverse
I searched Thingiverse for a .338 but couldn't find one, so I decided to create my own model! I designed a .338 Lapua round in Onshape. All dimensions should be accurate (except for the bullet itself, as it varies). If the print doesn't turn out well, try splitting the model using NetFabb and then reassembling the pieces. The .338 Lapua is an impressive cartridge that offers anti-personnel capabilities similar to a larger round like the .50 BMG, but is lighter, making it ideal for snipers who need to carry more ammo. It's probably most notably used in the L115 (Accuracy International AWM) and by the British Armed Forces. The .338 Lapua has seen action in many conflicts and is combat-proven. In fact, the longest confirmed sniper kill was achieved with this round at an incredible 2,475 meters! Have fun printing your own .338 Lapua model! Print Settings: Printer: Wanhao Duplicator i3 V2 Rafts: Doesn't matter Supports: Doesn't matter Resolution: 0.2 Infill: 20% (you can adjust this to suit your needs) Notes: The pictures were taken after printing with white PLA, but it should also work well with ABS. Simply import the model into your slicer of choice and export as gcode. Post-Printing: Here's a comparison shot showing the .50BMG, 3D printed .338 Lapua Magnum, .308 Winchester/7.62x51 NATO, and .223rem/5.56x45 NATO from left to right. And here's a close-up view of the .338 Lapua model. Designing This Model: I used OnShape, a free cloud-based CAD program with powerful capabilities, to design this model.
