I designed a magnetic latch and knob system for my printer door, using two 5mm diameter ball magnets per latch to boost pulling power. The magnets connect directly with the screw head that secures the knob, requiring precise alignment - which is straightforward on a clear door. This setup provides enough force to keep the door shut but opens smoothly. If you need rock-solid security, this might not be your best choice. To assemble the knobs, I used #4 sheet metal screws paired with 3mm flat washers; 3mm machine screws could also work, as long as they're not stainless steel.
