3018 Laser mount and fume removal hood
thingiverse
This is a remix of Brandon75t's 3018 spindle carrier upgrade that has been modified to hold a 40mm laser on the outside of the bracket and utilize the spindle holder to secure a tube, which is connected via a 3in. flexible hose for smoke and fume removal to the outside. It proves to be highly effective. https://youtu.be/kMp70DZGEz8 M2x20 screws with heat set inserts were used to secure the top cover on the extractor body. Designed holes on the tubes, body, and hose coupler allowed for fastening them together, but they held together well on their own, making it handy to remove the hood easily when setting the focus. M3 heat set inserts and M3x8 Allen screws were used to clamp the laser to the spindle carrier. The vent motor is available on Amazon here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001O0DE9E/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 This device sounds like a jet engine at 12V and can suck lightweight pieces off the table. It is run at 5V and operates quietly, performing well. The vent tubing is also available on Amazon here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000LRHCLW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
