He used small screws and thinner walls in his version, but they cracked due to being too thin. I wanted to use 1/4 inch bolts that can be bought by weight to tighten the spindle down securely. The spindle I'm using is available on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Spindle-Cooled-Milling-Converter-Engraving/dp/B01LNBOCDA. I've tested several spindles with varying wattages, from 300w to 500w, and they all fit perfectly without any issues. It appears that they are built using the same housing design. If your spindle is different, I've included a Fusion 360 file for you to edit and modify as needed. I plan to expand this project by adding a vacuum mount and an air line to the spindle. The idea is to use a device like this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Small-Portable-Shop-Vac-Micro-Wet-Dry-Vacuum-Hang-Up-Tool-Mounting-Air-Inflator/283481738923?hash=item4200d40eab:g:SlQAAOSwEXxc10RN. I want to create a 120v version because these spindles draw too many amps at 12v, and additional power supplies are costly. Another issue is the noise level, so I need to be able to add a muffler to it. This shouldn't be difficult, considering I can use the exhaust for the air line to blow material away from the bit – a 2in1 solution!
