I designed a spindle holder for my SainSmart 3018-MX3 that allows you to leave the bit in the collet while using the laser module. The design attaches directly to the aluminum X rail. You'll need to create supports for the mounting inserts, so I used MeshMixer to generate them and then sent the files to the 3D Printer software.
