3018 CNC - Dust shoe upgrade

3018 CNC - Dust shoe upgrade

thingiverse

I'm tired of wearing a mask in my garage every time I mill something with my 3018 CNC, so I decided to create a dust shoe for it. The design is straightforward, consisting of just a few pieces that can be milled using the 3018 CNC itself or also manufactured through 3D printing. One component of the dust shoe will be secured onto the spindle via pre-threaded holes (M4). The lower part is removable and can be installed on the machine once all preparations for the milling task are completed. The initial version had the hose positioned too far away from the bit, resulting in poor suction that struggled to pull up dust particles from the parts. I subsequently created an improved version with a more focused airflow around the bit, significantly enhancing the dust shoe's efficiency. This upgrade will greatly enhance your 3018 CNC experience by providing cleaner air to breathe in your machine shop.
