In quest of a simple one-piece substitute for the intricate and tricky MakerBot spool holders, I stumbled upon whpthomas's exceptional design; however, it was slightly too long for my MakerBot space. To resolve this issue, I limited the spool length to 8cm using Blender mesh editing tools while keeping the rest of the excellent design intact. This modification is specifically designed for 1Kg/1.5Kg spools from both MakerBot and non-MakerBot suppliers. Unfortunately, I don't have a Shark FX (approximately $1.7K), so I couldn't utilize the FX features. However, whpthomas' design effortlessly fits on an Original Makerbot (1) (Dual). For further customization, consider adding a logo or message to the back of the holder as it becomes prominently visible inside your MakerBot. Printing this modified spool holder might be challenging due to its size. To prevent warping and ensure successful adhesion, employ various techniques like hairspray, ABS paste, hot boxing, or use PLA on painter tape.
