3-Way Universal Phone Dock: For the Car, Tripod, & Bicycle
thingiverse
I usually use the GPS app on my phone, but it's a hassle to find a convenient spot in my car. Luckily, I've found this versatile phone holder that allows me to secure it to my rearview mirror. This dock can fit any regular-sized smartphone, giving me the perfect display at all times. To attach it to my rearview mirror, I simply use the hook provided. The other option is to screw it onto any tripod with a 1/4-20 thread mount for even more flexibility. I've also used this holder on my bicycle by tightening it in place using zip ties or a hose clamp - incredibly convenient! If you're planning to make one of these holders, here's what you need to do: Make sure your printer is set to at least 30% infill. This will ensure the dock doesn't come loose when I'm driving. And yes, this might seem excessive, but I'd rather be safe than sorry! To keep my phone secure in place, I also attached some weatherstripping - it does the trick. Here are the components you'll need: 1. A 1/4-20 hex bolt measuring 3.5 inches long. 2. Another 1/4-20 hex bolt that's just .75 inches long (for extra versatility). 3. A butterfly nut to keep things secure. 4. Two regular hex nuts, which I use for the tripod mount in my car's base and also for the hook option - a convenient touch!
