3-way joint for rods or pipe
thingiverse
I have a laundry basket with an interior framework crafted from welded rods, 0.165" in diameter (4.2mm). One of the rods snapped off, failing at both the top and bottom welds. Fortunately, a 3D printer can repair that easily! I began by using a simple 3-way pipe connector, then modified it to reveal the elbow portion (cutting it in half). This solution can be scaled for any similar requirement. I must say that while this is a straightforward and quick-fix item, it can go a long way in demonstrating to your spouse the value of having a 3D printer at home. Who wouldn't want more support from their partner? If needed, you might want to smooth out the inside elbow slightly, depending on your specific needs. A few swift touch-ups with my dremel tool ensured a perfect fit!
